A PEACEFUL PROTEST FOR VIEWER CHOICE
Your viewing.
Watching independent creators should not mean funding a broadcaster you choose not to watch.
noBBCtube is an independent protest against extending the TV Licence requirement to on-demand video platforms. We believe you should be able to choose your entertainment, support the creators you enjoy, and leave BBC content out of your viewing.
Make your choice visible.
Search. Watch. Share the site. Tell people why the freedom to choose matters to you. This is a peaceful way to express an objection and help others understand it.
“I choose what I watch. I choose what I support.”
A protest with the facts straight.
The proposal to widen TV licensing is not the same as a law already in force. Using this site does not create a TV Licence exemption. We’re making an objection visible, and we won’t promise a legal loophole.

What can I search and watch? Home and search both load videos directly from YouTube. Choose Channels beside the search box to find creators directly and follow them from the results. You can also select a creator’s name on any video to open their channel. Following shows recent uploads from your followed channels; open a channel to browse further back. Use Personalise Home to choose up to three interests saved on this browser. You can also switch on learning from videos you watch here. Home combines your chosen topics with broad interests and channel preferences learned on this browser. It does not import your signed-in YouTube Home feed or Google watch history. It returns public, embeddable videos available in the UK. Videos from channels matching our BBC checks, live and upcoming videos, premieres and former live streams are excluded. Search results are checked again before playback. Private videos, disabled embeds and some restricted content cannot be shown. Google’s API allowance can temporarily limit search.
How BBC and live-stream filtering works BBC filtering uses channel checks only: known BBC channel identities and BBC or selected programme names in channel names, descriptions and handles. Video titles, descriptions, tags and search terms are not used to block videos. We exclude live and upcoming videos and entries with live-stream metadata. If the required metadata is missing, the video is blocked.
Channel filters can miss BBC clips uploaded by other channels and can exclude independent channels whose own name, description or handle matches the BBC checks. They cannot guarantee the ownership of every frame. YouTube’s player ads and external links remain outside our filtering controls.
What the visit counter means It counts page visits from the time the counter launched. Reloads and repeat visits can add to the total; some automated traffic may also be included. It is not a count of unique people, supporters or votes.
Only the running total and its start time are stored. We do not store visitor IP addresses, names, cookies or visitor identifiers in this counter.
Privacy and YouTube Search text goes through this site to the YouTube Data API. Playing a video loads YouTube’s player, which may use cookies and collect playback data. Followed channels, Watch later and any interests you choose are saved only in your browser; no viewer account is created. Optional watch learning stores broad topic scores, channel preferences and up to 100 recently watched video IDs in this browser. Recent video IDs expire after 30 days; topic and channel scores fade over time and reset after 30 days without learning. It counts foreground playback, not clicks, and recent choices have more influence. Only suggested topic names go to the search API; this local viewing record is not uploaded. YouTube still receives normal player requests. You can pause learning or clear learned data in Personalise Home. Clearing browser data also resets it. We do not access your Google account. Loading a channel or Following sends the requested channel IDs through this site to YouTube to retrieve uploads. Follows are local to noBBCtube, do not subscribe your Google account, and do not sync between browsers. You can follow up to 20 channels and unfollow any time. Search and channel responses are cached briefly.

✕ Make Home more your thing. Choose up to three interests. We’ll show matching YouTube videos, with BBC and live-stream filters on.
Learning starts when you switch it on and save. Your choices and learned viewing data stay on this browser; only topic suggestions go to YouTube through this site. Recent video IDs expire after 30 days. Topic and channel scores fade over time and reset after 30 days without learning. No sign-in or Google history access. Turning learning off pauses it; clearing learned data resets it. Shared browsers share recommendations.
